ABOUT

Watch the campaign video
Caltrans, the California Department of Transportation, is planning to expand Highway 395 in California. While this may seem like a necessary project for the state's infrastructure, it comes at a great cost to our Native American tribes. The expansion will desecrate our ancestor burial sites and destroy important cultural landmarks.

Our tribes have lived in harmony with the land for thousands of years. Our ancestors are buried throughout the area that Caltrans plans to expand. These burial sites are sacred and must be protected from destruction.

The expansion of Highway 395 will also destroy important cultural landmarks that have been passed down through generations. These landmarks are essential to our understanding of our history and traditions.

We urge Caltrans to reconsider their plans and find an alternative route that does not harm our ancestor burial sites or cultural landmarks. We demand that they consult with our tribes before making any decisions about this project.

According to the National Congress of American Indians, there are over 500 federally recognized tribes in the United States with unique cultures and traditions. It is essential that these cultures and traditions be respected and protected.

We call on Caltrans to recognize the importance of protecting Native American heritage and culture by halting their plans for expanding Highway 395 through ancestral lands. We urge them to work with us in finding a solution that respects both our heritage as well as their need for infrastructure development.

Together we can ensure that future generations can learn from these sacred places without fear of them being destroyed by careless expansion projects like this one proposed by Caltrans.
